I was watching a TV documentary about decommissioning an old dam that was an early Hydro Electric dam built in the early 20th century. It no longer has value to generate power and is in the process of being removed. The removal will take years but once it is then the hope is that the river will once again be a salmon spawning system.

This brings a few thoughts to mind. Old dams, and there are many in BC that have outlived their purpose and are being considered a potential danger if they fail, have to be considered today and tomorrow. Is the reservoir a benefit to recreation like fishing or is it better to remove the dam and return the landscape to it's natural state??
